All participants under the age of 35 working in the biomedical engineering field are invited to apply for the Young investigator Award.

IFMBE Young Investigator Competition for Biomedical Engineering & Science

1. Aim
The purpose of the IFMBE Young Investigator Competition is to recognize excellence in Congress contributions of young investigators. The main evaluation criteria shall be originality, clarity, and potential impact on practical applications or theoretical foundations.

2. Eligibility
Young Investigators are concerned persons under the age of 35 working in the field of biomedical engineering and science. The Young Investigator must be the first author of the paper and has to present the paper/poster at the congress himself. Only Young Investigator who submit full papers (not only abstracts) are eligible for the competition.

3. Submission
The papers for the Competition have to be sent through the regular Congress submission system. When submitting their paper to the Congress, candidates have to confirm that they want to participate in the Competition. The Congress organizers shall provide appropriate application in the paper submission form.

4. Awards Committee
The Awards Committee for the Young Investigator Competition consists of five distinguished researchers members of the International Program Committee of the Congress.

5. Conflict of Interest
Members of the Awards Committee are not allowed to be authors or co-authors of the competitors.

6. Selection
The Awards Committee shall make an initial selection of papers based on the regular Congress paper review procedure. Further selection shall be made on additional reviews of the papers of the finalists. Final decision shall include evaluation of the oral or poster presentation at the congress in regular sessions.

7. Finalists
The number of finalists may vary depending on the number of the participants of the Congress and/or the number of Young Investigators who entered the Competition, but should not be less than 3 or more than 10.
The names of the finalists shall be announced on the Congress website at least one month before the beginning of the congress.
In order to enable the Awards Committee to evaluate all presentations in due time, the Congress Organizers shall make it possible for the Young Investigator finalists to have their presentation before the last day of the Congress.

8. IFMBE Young Investigators Awards
The winners of the Awards will be presented at the Closing Ceremony of the Congress. All finalists will be presented a diploma. The Awards are presented jointly by a member of the Congress Organizing Committee and by IFMBE President himself. The Award comprises of a diploma and of a monetary prize as set in agreement by the Congress Organizer and IFMBE. Diplomas shall be provided by IFMBE.
